Lounge Access Spend Criteria Increased
Axis Bank has doubled the spending requirement for complimentary airport lounge access on the Burgundy Debit Card.
Burgundy Debit Cardholders previously needed to spend ₹5,000 using their debit card over the previous 3 calendar months to unlock lounge access. From 1 September 2026, the same benefit will require ₹10,000 in spends over the same period.
Newly issued Burgundy Debit Cards will not have to meet the spend requirement during the month of issuance and the following three calendar months.

DCC Charges Increased
Axis Bank has revised the Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) markup fee on eligible transactions. DCC is a facility that allows you to pay for international transactions in Indian Rupees (INR) instead of the local currency.
The DCC markup has increased from 1% to 3.5% from 1 September 2026.
This fee applies when you choose to pay in INR instead of the local currency for eligible international transactions, including:
Purchases made abroad where payment is made in INR
Transactions with overseas-registered merchants even if the purchase is made in India
EDGE REWARDS Discontinued
The Burgundy Debit Card will stop earning EDGE REWARD Points from 1 September 2026.
Until now, cardholders earned 10 EDGE REWARD Points for every ₹100 spent on domestic transactions. Since 1 EDGE Reward Point = ₹0.20, the card effectively offered 2% value back on eligible domestic transactions.
The 2X Birthday EDGE REWARD Points benefit will also end.
Existing accumulated points can still be redeemed as per Axis Bank’s applicable redemption timelines and program terms.
Debit Card Insurance Eligibility Changed
The eligibility window for complimentary debit card insurance has been shortened from 90 days to 30 days effective from 1 September 2026.
Earlier, cardholders only needed to complete one eligible debit card transaction within the previous 90 days to remain eligible for the insurance benefits.
All other insurance benefits and coverage will continue to remain unchanged.
Should You Still Use The Burgundy Debit Card?
The Axis Burgundy Debit Card still offers premium benefits like airport lounge access, BookMyShow benefits and insurance coverage. However, the discontinuation of EDGE REWARDS reduces the value users previously received from regular debit card spends.
At SaveSage, we believe the card can still make sense for users who primarily use it for lifestyle benefits and can comfortably meet the revised spend requirements.
