Is Kiwi Neon Membership Worth It?

If you already use the Kiwi Credit Card for UPI payments, you may have come across Kiwi Neon Membership. It can help you earn more rewards on the spending you’re already doing with Kiwi, but unlike the regular card, Neon comes with a yearly membership fee.

Is Kiwi Neon Membership Worth It?
Kiwi Neon lets you earn more cashback and unlock milestone rewards for an annual membership fee.

Neon costs ₹999 + GST a year, which comes to ₹1,178.82 including GST. In return, you get a higher cashback rate and milestone rewards. But before paying the fee, there’s one important question. Will you actually get enough value from Neon to make it worthwhile?

What Is Kiwi Neon Membership?

Think of Neon as the paid version of Kiwi’s rewards programme. The regular Kiwi card is free, while Neon gives you access to a higher base cashback rate and milestone rewards on eligible spending during your membership period. If you’re still comparing the core card itself, check out our  Kiwi Credit Card Review.

With the regular Kiwi card, eligible UPI Scan & Pay transactions earn 1.5% cashback, while Neon increases this to 2% cashback and adds milestone rewards as your eligible spending increases. So, if you already use Kiwi regularly, Neon gives you a chance to earn more from the spending you were already doing.

Kiwi Neon Membership Benefits

The biggest Neon benefit is its milestone-based cashback. As your eligible spending increases, your effective cashback goes higher.

  • Cashback: Earn 2% base cashback with Neon, with milestone rewards taking your effective cashback up to 5% as you hit the spending milestones.

  • Lounge access: Get one complimentary lounge access at each milestone, subject to applicable terms.

  • Merchant offers: Access selected merchant offers and promotional benefits through the Kiwi app.

The catch is simple. You actually need to reach the spending milestones to unlock the higher rewards.

How Does Kiwi Neon Cashback Work?

This is where the “up to 5% cashback” headline needs a little context. You don't get 5% cashback on every transaction from the beginning. Neon combines the regular cashback you earn with milestone rewards.

For example, your total cashback increases as you hit each milestone. Here’s how it works:

There is also a monthly cap on regular cashback. Kiwi caps the regular cashback you can earn in a month at 1% of your credit limit. So, if your credit limit is ₹50,000, the regular cashback you can earn in that month is capped at ₹500. This cap resets every month, while milestone rewards are credited separately when you reach the applicable milestone.

Kiwi calculates the milestone reward after accounting for the cashback you've already earned during the membership period. So the higher cashback is unlocked when you reach the relevant spending milestone, rather than being applied at the higher rate to every transaction from the start.

Keep in mind that not all transactions count towards these milestones. Kiwi excludes certain categories and refunded transactions when calculating your eligible spending, so your qualifying spend may be lower than your total card spending.

So don't simply multiply your spending by 5%. The cashback you actually earn depends on the milestones you reach.

How do I cancel my Kiwi Neon membership?

Kiwi Neon is a prepaid annual membership, so once you’ve paid the fee, it is generally non-refundable. If you don't want to renew it for the next year, check the Kiwi app for the available renewal or cancellation option.

Is Kiwi Neon Membership Fee Worth It?

Kiwi Neon costs ₹999 + GST per year, which works out to ₹1,178.82 including GST. The real question is whether the extra rewards and benefits you earn can justify that cost.

  • ₹50,000 annual spend: Neon gives ₹1,500 cashback compared with around ₹750 with the regular Kiwi card. That's only ₹750 in additional cashback, which doesn't cover the ₹1,178.82 membership cost.

  • ₹1 lakh annual spend: Neon gives ₹4,000 cashback compared with around ₹1,500 with the regular Kiwi card. That's ₹2,500 in additional cashback, which covers the membership fee and leaves you with extra value.

So, as a simple rule, ₹1 lakh of annual eligible spending is where Kiwi Neon starts making financial sense.

Kiwi has also offered free Neon membership through selected promotions, so it is worth checking your Kiwi app before paying the regular fee. The membership can be renewed annually and the fee is non-refundable once paid.

If you use Kiwi regularly for UPI payments and can comfortably reach the spending milestones, Neon can add meaningful value to your card. If your spending is lower or inconsistent, the free Kiwi version may be enough. Your usual spending pattern matters more than the 5% cashback headline.

That’s also where SaveSage can make the decision easier. Instead of looking at a cashback percentage in isolation, you can compare the rewards, fees and benefits across your cards to see which option actually works better for your spending.
