Ever Heard of a Gen Z-Inspired Lounge? Bangalore Airport T2 Has One: Gate Z
Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bengaluru is already known for its beautifully designed Terminal 2, often called the “Terminal in a Garden.” But recently, the airport introduced something quite different from the usual airport lounge experience - a Gen Z inspired social lounge called Gate Z.

Launched in January 2026, Gate Z is designed to feel less like a quiet waiting room and more like a modern social space inside the airport. Think café-style energy, interactive zones, and flexible seating instead of the typical leather chairs and silent work corners.
The idea is simple: modern travelers don’t just “wait” at airports anymore - they work, socialise, create content, and spend spend time productively before boarding.
Where Is Gate Z Located?
Gate Z is located in the airside area of International Departures, after you’ve cleared immigration and security. Once you pass Duty Free, you’ll find it next to the 080 International Lounge.
The lounge is open 24/7, and access typically allows for a stay of up to 3 hours. Children under 5 years can enter for free, depending on the access program you're using. It is operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) and Bengaluru Airport Services Limited (BASL), who manage lounges across Terminal 2.
What Makes Gate Z Different?
Unlike most airport lounges, which are designed for quiet and relaxation, Gate Z is all about experience. The airport itself describes the concept as “inspired by the Gen Z mindset — not necessarily Gen Z age.”
The lounge is divided into four unique zones, each offering a different vibe:
Bubble & Brew: A lively café-bar where you can grab a quick drink before your flight.
The Sipping Lounge: A quieter, more relaxed area for unwinding or having a conversation.
Subway Diner: A retro-inspired diner with live counters, adding an energetic and fun atmosphere.
The Amphizone: An amphitheater-style space for screenings, events, and pop-up activities.
Gate Z’s design focuses on modern, social-first spaces, with curved seating, ambient lighting, and an Instagram-worthy color scheme. The cyan and burnt-orange tones give it a vibrant feel, making it a perfect spot for travelers who love to capture and share their experiences.
