HDFC SmartBuy Brand Voucher Cap July 2026

If you've been buying gift vouchers through HDFC SmartBuy every month to earn accelerated RP on your Infinia, Diners Black, Regalia or other HDFC credit cards, that strategy just became significantly less rewarding.

HDFC SmartBuy Brand Voucher Cap July 2026
HDFC SmartBuy Brand Voucher rewards now come with a separate monthly cap from 1 July 2026.

From 1 July 2026, HDFC Bank has introduced a separate monthly cap on SmartBuy Brand Voucher earnings. Until now, Brand Voucher purchases made through HDFC SmartBuy counted towards the card’s overall monthly SmartBuy reward point limit, but they can now earn only up to 3,000 RP a month through GyFTR and Woohoo vouchers. This new voucher sub-cap sits inside the existing overall SmartBuy monthly cap.

What Changed

Until now, Brand Voucher purchases made through HDFC SmartBuy counted towards the card’s overall monthly SmartBuy RP limit. This meant voucher purchases could use up your entire monthly SmartBuy cap on their own.

From 1 July 2026, HDFC Bank has introduced a separate sub-cap of 3,000 RP per month specifically for Brand Voucher purchases made through SmartBuy, including GyFTR and Woohoo vouchers. This new voucher sub-cap sits inside the existing overall SmartBuy monthly cap.

So, once you earn 3,000 RP from Brand Vouchers in a month, any additional voucher purchases during that month will no longer earn accelerated RP, even if you have not reached your overall SmartBuy monthly cap. The remaining overall cap can still be used through other eligible SmartBuy categories.

Who Is Affected the Most?

The impact of this change depends on how you use HDFC SmartBuy.

If you regularly buy Amazon Pay, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, BigBasket or other Brand Vouchers every month to maximise RP, you'll notice the biggest difference.

  • Infinia & Infinia Metal users are affected the most because Brand Vouchers could previously contribute towards the entire 15,000 RP monthly SmartBuy cap. But now you can earn accelerated reward points only till the capping.

  • Diners Black, Diners Black Metal & BizBlack Metal users will also need to rethink their voucher strategy since only 3,000 Reward Points can now come from Brand Voucher purchases.

  • Regalia, Diners Privilege & BizPower users are affected too, although the impact is relatively smaller because their overall SmartBuy monthly caps were already lower.

On the other hand, if you mainly use SmartBuy for flight bookings, hotel bookings or other eligible categories, this update may have a limited impact because the overall SmartBuy monthly cap remains unchanged.

How the New Cap Works

Think of the new rule like this.

You buy Rs 30,000 worth of Brand Vouchers through SmartBuy. Earlier, this could have helped you earn up to 15,000 RP. Now, you will earn only 3,000 RP because the new voucher cap applies. The remaining voucher spend will continue to earn base rewards.

What Should HDFC Cardholders Do Now?

This update doesn't change the SmartBuy reward earning rate - it only introduces a separate monthly cap on Brand Voucher purchases.

If you regularly use SmartBuy, here's how to maximise your Reward Points after this change:

  • Stop buying Brand Vouchers once you've earned 3,000 Reward Points for the month.

  • Shift your spending to other eligible SmartBuy categories like flights, hotels, buses, trains, and partner merchants, where accelerated rewards continue until you reach your overall monthly SmartBuy cap.

  • Track your monthly Reward Points so you don't unknowingly exceed the voucher cap.

  • If you frequently use SmartBuy for travel, prioritise those bookings to maximise your overall Reward Points.

Is HDFC SmartBuy Still Worth Using?

Yes, This update doesn't reduce the accelerated reward rate offered on SmartBuy. It only introduces a separate monthly cap for Brand Voucher purchases.

If your SmartBuy usage was almost entirely focused on vouchers, you'll reach the new limit much sooner than before. But for users who also book flights, hotels or use other eligible SmartBuy services, SmartBuy continues to offer strong value.

Going forward, the best way to maximise your rewards is to spread your spending across different SmartBuy categories instead of relying mainly on Brand Vouchers.

As banks continue introducing category-wise caps and spending limits, understanding how these changes affect your rewards becomes just as important as choosing the right credit card.
