Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card Review 2026: Still the Best Free Amazon Card?

The Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card remains one of the easiest lifetime-free cashback cards for regular Amazon shoppers. It combines zero joining and annual fees, uncapped cashback and automatic cashback redemption into Amazon Pay balance, making it an attractive option for frequent Amazon shoppers.

Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card Review 2026
Amazon Pay ICICI offers uncapped cashback on eligible Amazon purchases with no joining or annual fee.

Prime members can earn an uncapped 5% on eligible Amazon.in purchases with cashback automatically credited to Amazon Pay balance. However, the card isn't as straightforward as it appears. Recent terms exclude categories like flight and hotel bookings through Amazon Pay from the headline cashback rate, while rent, education, international transactions and several other spends don't earn cashback at all.

Frequent Amazon shoppers, especially Prime members

Since the card has no joining or annual fee, it also stands out among the best lifetime-free credit cards in India.

How the Cashback Structure Actually Works

  • 5% cashback on Amazon.in purchases for Prime members

  • 3% cashback on Amazon.in purchases for non-Prime members

  • 2% cashback on digitally fulfilled categories on Amazon.in, this includes gift cards, e-books, utility bill payments, insurance premium payments and Amazon Pay wallet loads made through Amazon, plus purchases at Amazon Pay partner merchants via "Login and Pay with Amazon". This rate applies whether or not you're a Prime member.

  • 1% cashback on all other eligible spends outside Amazon, on any category that isn't already covered above and isn't in the exclusions list below

One important change introduced in ICICI Bank's January 2026 Card Member Terms is that flight and hotel bookings made through Amazon Pay are no longer eligible for the headline 5% or 3% cashback. Earlier Amazon communications suggested otherwise, but ICICI's latest terms should be treated as the governing source.

At Amazon Pay partner merchants, payments routed through "Login and Pay with Amazon" earn 2% cashback. Paying with the card directly at the same merchant generally earns only the standard 1% cashback.

Cashback is uncapped and credited automatically to your Amazon Pay balance, usually within two working days after the billing cycle ends.

Fees and Charges

You won't pay a joining fee or an annual fee on this card, so it costs nothing to hold. That said, a few charges can still apply depending on how you use it, so it helps to know them upfront.

If you withdraw cash on this card, you'll be charged 2.5% of the withdrawn amount, with a minimum of ₹500, and interest starts building from the day you withdraw rather than from your bill date.

Carrying forward an unpaid balance is where costs add up fastest. Finance charges work out to 3.75% per month, and this applies even if you've paid the minimum amount due, so paying only the minimum still leaves you paying interest on the rest.

Missing your payment due date brings a late payment fee, which can range from ₹100 to ₹1,300 depending on how much you owe.

Spending abroad comes with a 1.99% forex markup, which is on the lower side compared to many other cards. Keep in mind though that international transactions don't earn any cashback, so you're paying the markup without getting rewarded for it.

What's Excluded From Cashback

This is one of the most important sections to understand before applying.

The following transactions don't earn cashback:

  • Fuel spends, and gold, silver or any precious metal purchases

  • Advance tax, GST and other tax-related payments (MCC 9311, 9313). Municipal tax payments (MCC 9399, classified under Government rather than Tax) are not excluded and earn 1% cashback.

  • EMI transactions, including EMI-on-call and cash transactions converted to EMI

  • Rent payments

  • Education payments and international transactions. Note that this means forex spends earn no cashback, even though the forex markup fee itself stays low at 1.99%

  • Utility bill payments made outside the Amazon platform

  • Late payment charges, and any interest or service charges billed to the card

  • Gold Coins and flight/hotel bookings through Amazon Pay are separately excluded from the 5%/3% Amazon.in cashback tier

Eligibility and Documents

The Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card is generally available to Indian residents applying through the Amazon app or website. While the application process is simple, approval depends on ICICI Bank's internal eligibility checks and may not be available to every Amazon user.

Basic eligibility includes:

  • Indian citizen

  • Minimum age of 21 years

  • Salaried applicants: Minimum monthly income of ₹20,000

  • Self-employed applicants: Minimum monthly income of ₹30,000

Applicants are typically required to submit PAN, Aadhaar, address proof and income proof during the application process.

Welcome Benefits

Along with lifetime free membership, new cardholders may receive welcome benefits worth up to ₹2,500 for Prime members and up to ₹2,000 for non-Prime members, plus a complimentary one-month EazyDiner Prime membership.

The package generally includes Amazon gift coupons for shopping, mobile recharges, electricity, gas, DTH, broadband and selected Amazon services. Some offers require minimum transaction amounts, non-EMI purchases or completion within a specified period after card issuance.

One currently listed offer provides 100% cashback up to ₹100 on an eligible non-EMI Amazon order of at least ₹1, valid until 31 July 2026 at 11:59:59 PM.

These promotions change frequently, so check the live application page for the exact offer available to your account before applying.

Other Things Worth Knowing

  • No-cost EMI is available on eligible Amazon.in merchant transactions for a 3-month tenure, though EMI transactions don't earn cashback.

  • Card replacement is limited to three instances after which ICICI may decline another replacement.

  • Reward-related disputes must be raised within the 90-day period specified in ICICI's terms; claims submitted after this window may not be considered.

  • Cashback is credited as Amazon Pay Gift Cards, which generally carry a three-year validity. Check the balance and applicable validity in your Amazon Pay account.

Amazon Pay ICICI is the easiest option for regular Amazon shoppers because it is lifetime free and uncapped. SBI Cashback is broader for online spending, while the SBI Cashback Credit Card review explains whether its wider reward structure still justifies the annual fee after the latest devaluation.

Axis Bank Cashback becomes more rewarding at higher monthly online spends and HDFC Millennia suits users who want 5% rewards across several major merchants. However, all three alternatives charge annual fees and apply cashback caps.

Should You Get the Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card in 2026?

If you're already an Amazon Prime member and Amazon is where you do most of your online shopping, the answer is yes.

Zero fees, uncapped 5% cashback, and automatic redemption with no minimum threshold is a combination few cashback cards in India currently match.

However, the card isn't designed to be your only cashback card. If you frequently shop on Flipkart, Myntra or other online platforms or prefer cashback as a statement credit instead of Amazon Pay balance, pairing it with another cashback card will usually give you better overall returns.

Used as your primary card for Amazon and Amazon Pay partner spends, and paired with a second card for everything else, it remains a strong, low-effort addition to a spending setup. On SaveSage, you can compare credit cards based on your spending pattern and identify a suitable second card for purchases outside the Amazon ecosystem.
